A NOTE FROM ME <- -> A PARAGRAPH ON ME

こんにちわ!

Even though i’m lucky enough that climbing has taken me all over the world to some magical spots, i was born and raised in New York City, which will always be home to me.

In 2019, i moved to my parent’s homeland of Japan to train and finish high school, and then in 2021 i moved to california to study environmental studies and DMA (design and media arts) at UCLA -

Making climbing more accessible and inclusive is close to my heart. I am lucky to have co-founded ALLRISE with friends from Brain Dead and Long Beach Rising; check this page for upcoming events.

currently: i’m roaming the world in 2024 focusing on autodidactic learning, shibori dyeing, climbing on real rocks, writing, ecology and more. thank you to arc’teryx for the support. My imagined future is to practice regenerative acts whether it be permaculture, mutual aid or close bonds with friends (human and  more-than-human).

The internet is weird but can also make for unseen connections: if you have an idea for collaborating together or just want to chat, email me here :)

Warm wishes,

Ashima
